An attractive piece of art is what this DIY is. A great way to deck your walls with roses made in shades and hues of pinks, violets and mauves. Learn the technique of washing out colours and mixing shades to get a realistic look & feel.

STEP 1 : Source the base material
  • Take a Fine Art Canvas board that measures 12” x 16” in size.
  • Paint it with a base coat of Acrylic Colour Burnt Sienna 01, White 27 & Pastel Peach.
STEP 2 : Choosing a theme and drawing
  • We have conceptualized an exotic bunch of roses with layers of petals. 
    • Draw and lightly sketch the design on the painted canvas board. 
STEP 3 : Shading technique - leaves
  • Begin painting the leaves around the roses using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – Sap Green 21 and Black 02.
  • Paint certain areas in dark shades giving depth of field.
STEP 4 : Floral shading technique
  • Start painting the roses in shades of pink where you can darken and lighten them with shading and blending of colours.
  • Paint using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Crimson 04, Maroon 14, Orange 17, Sap Green 21, Yellow Ochre 26, White 27, Salmon Pink 65, Neon Pink 018, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pastel Buttercup Yellow, Pastel Peach and Pastel Pink. Let it dry
STEP 5 : Final touches & look
  • Paint the rest of the roses in shades of peach and white using Acrylic Colours – Crimson 04, Maroon 14, Orange 17, Yellow Ochre 26, White 27, Salmon Pink 65, Neon Pink 018, Pastel Buttercup Yellow, Pastel Peach and Pastel Pink.
  • Ensure you accentuate each of the petals to give it a distinct look that stands out.
  • Give a shadow effect on the wall with subtle shades of mauve that have been washed and toned down.
