Description :
Transform a recycled plastic container into a stylish decorative piece using decoupage and Mouldit clay for a unique trellis design. This project combines mixed media techniques to create a stunning, upcycled home decor item.
STEP 1 : Prepare the Container
- Start by selecting a recycled plastic container for the DIY project, which will feature a decoupage design with a trellis pattern created using Mouldit.
STEP 2 : Base Coat Painting
- Paint the entire container with a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour - White 27.
- Allow it to dry completely before moving to the next step.
STEP 3 : Apply Decoupage Design
- Take a floral design paper and cut out three arched windows, each measuring 4” x 5”.
- Stick these floral paper windows onto the container at equal distances using Modge Podge.
- Carefully smooth out any air bubbles or creases.
- Apply two coats of Modge Podge over the paper to seal it and give it a glossy finish. Let it dry thoroughly.
STEP 4 : Create the Trellis Design
- Mix Fevicryl Mouldit resin base and hardener to form a uniform dough.
- Roll the dough into a slab and draw the trellis design onto it.
- Shape the dough to create the trellis pattern and make additional coils to decorate the container lid.
- Use Fabric Glue to attach the trellis design around the arched windows and to add the coil design on the lid.
- Form a dome-shaped knob on top of the lid using Mouldit clay and glue.
- Allow everything to dry completely.
STEP 5 : Paint the Final Design
- Paint the container and trellis design with an antique look using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Light Green 12, White 27, Teal Blue 68, and Pearl Metallic - Bronze 355.
- Use dry brush strokes of Golden Yellow 09 and White 27 to add an off-white shade for depth.
- Let the project dry completely before use.
