Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic - Gold 352, Bronze 355, Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Barbeque Stick, Clay Carving Tools, Golden Cord, Scissors, Colour Palette, Water Container
An attractive rakhi that’s been given a metallic burnished look that has been inspired by Dokra art. A great way to make rakhis at home is using the ever-versatile Fevicryl Mouldit that is so easy to handle and work with.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.
Take the clay and shape it into an oblong bead along with round beads with holes in each of them, like you see in the image. Use clay carving tools or a paper cutter for ease.
Take some clay and make elongated rope like forms and stick it ornately over the oblong bead to create a pattern. Stick using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
Using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic - Gold 352 & Bronze 355, paint the beads with dry brush strokes to get a gold burnished look. This will lend a look very much like Dokra art that’s done on hard metal surfaces.
String the beads into a gold thread in a creative manner. Once ready your Dokra inspired rakhi will look like this, stunning!
