Turn your old denim into a dazzling statement!
Use Fevicryl Acrylic Colours and Fevicryl Mouldit to create this DIY Denim Necklace with Beads.
STEP 1 : Source the base material
- We are going to make a pendant using colourful beads and Fevicryl Acrylic Colours.
- We would be using a denim fabric for sturdiness, like your old jeans.
- Mark and cut a rectangular denim fabric piece measuring 5” x 7” in size.
- Take an A4 white paper, draw a Yoruba bead work design on it measuring 3” x 4” in size.
- Trace the design on the denim fabric with white carbon paper.
STEP 2 : Paint the design
- Start sticking the assorted glass beads using Fabric Glue, by leaving few areas for painting. Leave it to dry completely.
- Refer to the image for the placement.
- Paint the motifs in the design with Acrylic Colours - Light Green 12, Orange 17, White 27 and Sky Blue 63.
- Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Fray the edges
- The pendant design will look like this after being completed.
- We are going to fray the three edges of the denim fabric as shown in the image.
- Cut the extra-long threads with a pair of scissors.
STEP 4 : Make the beads
- We are going to make fabric beads for the necklace using canvas sheet measuring approximately 2” size in height.
- Secure the ends of the beads with Fabric Glue.
- Let it dry.
STEP 5 : Paste the beads
- Decorate the fabric / canvas beads by sticking the assorted glass beads using Fabric Glue.
- Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Final touches
- Take the beaded strands, pass the cord through each canvas bead neatly and attach the pendant neatly.
