Athangudi Tile Table Runner

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Fabric Colours Chrome Yellow 203, Crimson 204, White 227, Fine Art Brushes, 1 Meter of Cotton Fabric (Grey & Black Color), A3 White Paper, Yellow Carbon Paper, Pencil, Assorted Fabric Pieces from Waste, Scissors, Needle & Thread, Colour Palette, Water Container.

Craft a stunning table runner adorned with traditional Athangudi tile designs, using vibrant Fevicryl Fabric Colours on grey cotton fabric. Elevate your table decor with this handmade masterpiece, perfect for adding a touch of Chettinad heritage to your home. 

STEP 1 : Procure the Base

Take plain cotton fabric in a grey shade.  

Create a table runner painted with the traditional Athangudi tiles design from Chettinad. 

STEP 2 : Draw and Trace the Design

Mark and cut the grey fabric, measuring approximately 18” x 36” in size.  

On A3 white paper, draw the Athangudi tile design.  

Trace the same design onto the fabric using yellow carbon paper. 

STEP 3 : Paint the Outline of the Design

Paint the outline of the design with Fabric Colour White 227.  

Allow it to dry. 

STEP 4 : Paint the Design

Paint the design with Fevicryl Fabric Colours Chrome Yellow 203, Crimson 204, and White 227.  

Let it dry. 

STEP 5 : Final Touches

Cut the black liner fabric to match the size of the table runner.  

Attach and stitch the black fabric from the rear side.  

Using assorted fabric pieces from waste in similar shades used for painting, mark and cut fabric pieces to create cone shapes.  

Attach the cone shapes along the border edge of the runner with a needle and thread. 

STEP 6 : Final Look
