Description :
Create a beautiful Ashtavinayak wall décor featuring small clay idols of the eight famous Ganesha's from Maharashtra. Perfect for the Ganesha festival, this mixed media project adds a traditional touch to your festive decorations.
STEP 1 : Prepare the Clay Ganesha
- We are going to make wall decor with small idols of Ashtavinayaks for the Ganesha festival to place on the wall beside the main Ganesha idol.
- Take Mouldit resin base and hardener, mix well to create small idols of the famous 8 Vinayakas from the Maharashtra region using clay modelling tools and fabric glue.
- Let the idols dry completely.
STEP 2 : Paint the First Coat
- Paint the first coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Black 02.
- When the colour is semi-dry, wipe it off with a rough rag to create a rustic effect.
STEP 3 : Paint the Final Coat
- Paint the final coat using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Crimson 04, Dark Brown 05, Orange 17, White 27, and Neon Orange 017 to depict the actual idols.
- Let the paint dry completely.
STEP 4 : Prepare the Jute Base
- We will stick these 2D idols onto jute fabric.
- Take jute with plastic coating on the rear side. Mark and cut the band measuring 5” x 14” in size, cutting one end of the jute band into a conical shape.
- Create borders on the jute band with a Mouldit slab, engraving the design using clay modelling tools and fabric glue.
- Pierce a hole at the top side of the jute band to attach the cord.
STEP 5 : Final Look
- Paint the crowns of some idols with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Let it dry.
- Attach and stick the Ganesha idols on the jute band using fabric glue. Let it dry.
- Attach the wool at the top and the metal bell with a bead at the conical edge. Refer to the image.
- Your Ashtavinayak wall decor is now ready to be displayed.
