Recreate the timeless elegance of Ajanta cave murals with a canvas painting depicting a princess and her attendant in rich acrylic hues. Inspired by early medieval art, this project infuses historical charm into contemporary decor.
STEP 1 : Procure the base
- Take a 12” x 16” canvas board by creating a texture resembling a mud wall using a thick coat of White applied with a painting knife. Allow it to dry.
- Sketch a simple outline of the princess and her attendant on the canvas.
- Create the texture on the canvas to give the look of the mud wall using thick coat of White with painting knife.
- Let it dry.
- Draw the simple sketch of the Black princess with her attendant or the servant on it.
STEP 2 : Paint the design
- Paint the initial design in Grisaille style using Acrylic Colours Black and White to define the line drawing. Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Finishing touches and Final Look
- Paint the details of the dark hair, hair jewelry, jeweled tiara, beaded necklace, garland, facial features, and rustic background using a variety of Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna, Black, Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Sap Green, Prussian Blue, Navy Blue, and White.
- Allow the painting to dry completely.
- Your Ajanta painting with the princess and her attendant is now complete.
